A detailed explanation on how to send a short text message to students using email. You will need the student's phone number (it can be found in Instructor Briefcase and on ADP—most student numbers are for cellphones, this won't work with a landline).

You will also need to know who the student's cellphone provide is (like AT&T). You might consider collecting this info at the start of the quarter.  Or, you could send the email to the same number with domain from the big four cell phone providers (so four separate email addresses): AT&T T-Mobile, Sprint, and Verizon. As each 10-digit phone number is unique, your message won't be delivered to the wrong person.
